Course Description
    Foundations of Special Education provides an overview of the field of special education, past and present. Emphasis is placed on the characteristics and needs of children with exceptional learning needs [ELN] along with study of significant litigation and legislation that have shaped the provision of special education services, particularly during the past quarter century. Program options for students with exceptionalities and teaching roles for special educators will be discussed. The course will include an examination of theoretical, experimental and clinical bases for the practice of special education.
