General Resources:  These are large websites developed mainly by governmental agencies with links to a variety of websites for students and teachers at all grade levels.

U.S.Department of Education Home Page

GEM:  The Gateway to Educational Materials

National Center for Education Statistics Home Page.    Part of the U.S.Department of Education, the Center contains a vast array of statistics relevant to education.

What Works Clearinghouse:  U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences provides this Web site to provide those involved in education "with a central and trusted source of scientific evidence of what works in education" (What Works, Overview, http://www.w-w-c.org/whatwedo/overview.html)

New York State Department of Education Home Page

Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment Home Page.  Part of the New York State Department of Education, CIA provides access to all the New York State standards.

Selected Websites of Importance to Education Librarians. sponsored by the Education & Behavioral Sciences Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries, this site covers a wide range of topics of interest to education students and faculty, as well as to practicing teachers.

S.E.R.P Home page for Strategic Education Research Partnership, a project of the National Research Council to develop a knowledge base of use to teachers, administrators and policy makes.

New York State Statistics. From the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government, this web site provides statistical information about New York State and its people, including information on demographics, economics, elections, government finance, public safety, housing, education, health, energy, and much more. 

The Education Librarian:  Thinking about Education and Educators in a Really Organized Way.  A Weblog with lots of useful information for teachers and education students (as well as librarians!)

 

Education Resources Information Center:  As of December 19, 2003, the ERIC system exists no longer.  The federal government, who has funded the system since the late 60's decided to privatize the ERIC databases and eliminate the ERIC Clearinghouses, which provided access to specialized reports/digests and alternative access to the ERIC database for teachers, students of education, education faculty, and community members interested in education.  The ERIC database still exists, but has moved to a private publisher by June of 2004.  The "new" ERIC database is expected to debut before January 2005.
    AskEric Virtual Library's resources have moved to the Educator's Reference Desk.  From this site, you can still access the public version of the ERIC database.  ERICDigests may be found at www.ericdigests.org


Educational Associations:  A major source of information of interest to educators, these websites provide access to statistics, specialized publications, career information and job listings. 

 

 

Electronic Journals in Education:  Journals covering a variety of topics in education that are accessible through Feinberg's digital resources or at no cost via the Web.  Education Journals is a database of journals in education with a description of the journal and links to publisher's web pages or journal content.
