Search by journal title in the
our online catalog:
Search
Feinberg
Choose Advanced Search. Choose Title from the drop down menu under Field
To Search. Type the title of the journal in the Search For box.
Limit your search by Format by choosing Serials from the drop down menu.
Select the Go button to search. If the title appears, choose
the Title link to get to the full
record. Then choose the Items link to see what Feinberg owns.
You can link to an online version if the journal is available
online. Journals/Magazines in print or microform are
located on the third level of Feinberg Library.
Under Find Articles on the Feinberg Home page, click on Journals A-Z to access a directory of journal titles and the full-text databases where full-text of these journals may be found.
Most of our databases allows you to search by journal title and limit to full-text. For example, in Academic Search Premier, choose SO Journal Name from the drop down menu in the Select a Field box. Type in the name of the journal you wish to find and click on the search key. A list of citations to articles in that journal will appear.
Ask at the Reference Desk or use Chat With A Librarian (a live online reference question service) for help with this or other full-text databases.
Clicking on the 360 Link icon
in many Feinberg databases
will take you to the full-text of a journal article directly.
An dialog box appears listing the locations of the full-text of the article.
Choose the Article link
to
access the full-text.
If
the box opens with an Interlibrary Loan link, be sure to check Journals
AtoZ before requesting Interlibrary Loan.
GoogleScholar allows you to search by subject, but also by Publication. Some of the content is freely available, so you can link to it and get the full text. Feinberg links the full text articles we license or subscribe to on GoogleScholar. Look for a link that says, FullText@MyLibrary to link to the full text Feinberg provides.
You can also search Google and type in the title of the journal or the title of the article. Sometimes you get lucky; this is the least reliable way to find a journal article.
You can request a copy of any article in a journal the Library does not own through the Interlibrary Loan service. Most databases allow you to make the request directly from the database (look for a link that says InterLibrary Loan or ILL when you are in the Full/Detailed record in a database). Otherwise, print off your citation, log into the interlibrary loan service at the link, Interlibrary Loan from the Library home page, and type in the information requested. You will receive a copy of the article in about two weeks. Remember to plan ahead for this option.
PUT IT ALL TOGETHER: When
you start searching in a database, open additional browser windows for Journals
At-Z, the Library catalog, and the InterLibrary Loan service.
By doing this (example below), you may easily access options for getting
the article if the 360Link
doesn’t
take you to full-text of the article.
Click on each of the buttons on the bottom right of the screen for access to the database and the other browser windows for Journals AtoZ, the Feinberg Library catalog and Interlibrary Loan. Questions? Please ask at the Reference Desk or call 564-5190.
