Microscope Setup

The microscope itself is just your garden variety dissecting microscope. You can focus it and change the magnification of the objective from 0.7 to 3.0 X. There is a Pyrex Petri dish on the stage which is held in place with putty but can be moved if necessary. The whole stage and accompanying equipment is surrounded by a Faraday cage. This is a wire screen box connected to a ground that filters out any external electrical signals (like radio waves given off by electrical equipment).
