 POLICIES

Attendance

Students are required to attend all classes. Any changes in the exam schedule, materials to be covered, quiz, etc., will be effective after a single announcement in class. Class-cuts are not permitted and shall be recorded as unexcused absences. No credit will be given for materials handed-in late as a result of an unexcused absence. If you must leave early, please let me know before class. Students who are unable to attend classes on certain days because of religious beliefs should submit a written statement at least one week in advance and discuss "makeup" work at that time.

Absence

An excused absence is one that is due to illness, death in the immediate family, any other truly unavoidable circumstance. However, the instructor must be apprised of the reason for said absence within 24 hours of your return to school. Moreover, the reason must be in writing and supported by documentary evidence or it will be recorded as unexcused. Three unexcused absences will result in a loss of up to 100 points and every one thereafter will result in an additional loss of up to 50 points. Materials may be collected in class as a form of attendance taking (quiz, homework). If you do not have the material with you, and in a sheet of paper with your name printed on it. A lab is counted as three (3) class periods.

Make-Up Work

Make-up work is normally not permitted. Some of the points available on a test may be available after an absence has been certified as excused.

Tardiness

Any student not physically present at the start of the scheduled class period will be considered tardy. Any tardy designation may be converted into an unexcused absence at the discretion of the instructor. Please remain after class to clarify your status on the day you are tardy.

Class Conduct

The standard of conduct is generally defined as that suitable for work in a professional atmosphere. The instructor reserves the right to fail a student for dishonesty involving assignments or examinations. The instructor is especially concerned about students submitting papers or outside assignments without proper references. Inappropriate or disruptive conduct will normally not be acceptable and may result in a lowering of a student’s grade or a failure in the course.

Recording Devices

Tape recorders, video cassette recorders, or any other form of electronic recording device is prohibited in the lecture or the laboratory portion of this course. Within the boundaries of the law, the instructor maintains a proprietary interest in the format, content, etc. of non-copyrighted materials.

Speak to me before class if you must leave early. Do no have another person hand in material for you!
