A JOURNEY THROUGH THE CULTURE OF CAPITALISM
ANTHROPOLOGY ONLINE SERIES
TEACHING ON THE WEB
Learning is a lifelong experience. In the world of today, with rapidly advancing technologies and globalism, entire societies must be re-educated to participate both in society and the workplace. Education must be made available to all who need or want it.
There are many, however, for whom returning to the traditional classroom is difficult, if not impossible. Adults who are working to provide for families find it difficult to schedule classes because of work hours. People with disabilities often find it difficult to attend traditional classes. Those who live in rural areas are not always within an acceptable distance from a place of higher education. For people in such situations, distance education via the internet or other means is a "blessing" (a descriptive word used by a student in a distance education course that I taught).
It is always a little frightening to take on something as new and so alien from the traditional methods, but it is the job of educators to educate those who need to be educated. Distance ed is the only means by which this can be accomplished in many cases. The links below may help those who are dedicated enough to bringing education to all that they are willing to try something new.
