COURSE RELATED RESEARCH
INSTRUCTION
Course Name: Introduction to Canada CAS111
Course Instructor: David Palmieri Session Librarian: Holly
Heller-Ross Session Date: 2006, revised for February 14, 2007

Your Research Paper requires thinking about a topic, gathering basic
and then detailed information, reading and analyzing
that information, writing drafts and finishing the paper, and properly
citing your research source materials.
Example of thinking about a topic:
Start with a broad topic such as Canadian Healthcare
Explore several aspects of the topic such as financing through taxes,
quality of healthcare, access to healthcare, healthcare for
the elderly, children, adults, women, men, native north Americans,
immigrants, or nursing care, or public opinion about healthcare.
You could also explore healthcare technology, sports medicine, jobs,
history, political influences and legislation, hospital management, social
services and many more aspects of that one broad topic.
Write a research question about one aspect you find interesting...
Then...start looking at information sources going from broad subject
encyclopedias to very specific journal articles and books.
