General Support Responsibilities. 1/85 - 6/95
Available for consultation on a wide variety of hardware and software
products and issues. Duties include:
- Functioning as the primary support person for Electronic Mail and
other network messaging systems. This includes, but is not restricted
to, the performance of the duties of Postmaster and BITNET node
administrator
- Assisting in the maintenance and management of networks, computer
labs, and other hardware and software under the auspices of the
Computing Support Center.
- Providing end-user support for all campus populations (faculty, staff,
student). Support services include:Software and non-warranty hardware installation on Macintosh, Apple
II, and MS-DOS based microcomputer systems.
- Problem diagnosis (troubleshooting) of hardware and software
difficulties on the VAX, microcomputers, telecommunications and network
hardware, and other peripherals related to the use of these systems.
- Hands-on, individualized training in cases where a formal training
class is not appropriate.
- Provide consultation on the purchase of hardware (computers, printers,
memory, and other peripherals) and software, available through the
Computing Support Center or outside vendors.
- Provide consultation on the design and selection of hardware and
software for a wide variety of applications including, but not
restricted to, office automation, database applications,
telecommunications, and networking.
- Design and write software to facilitate the migration of data between
different computer systems.
- As time permits, design and write software for other specialized
applications on the VAX and on microcomputers.
Unix System Management Responsibilities. 9/91 – 1/97
Responsible for the following on 10 Unix-based, multi-user systems (1
DECserver 3100, 3 DECstation 3100s, 5 VAXstation 2000s, and 1 SUN
SparcServer 5) : operating system maintenance and generation, including
the installation of patches and other system software; maintaining a
backup library; creating and maintaining user accounts; installation and
administration of specialized applications such as Internet Domain Name
Service, World Wide Wed servers and clients, Internet Gopher servers and
clients, USENET News servers and clients; supervision of student system
managers.
Security Alarm System Management Responsibilities. 9/92 - Present
Responsibilities include : working with contractors to develop
specifications for alarm systems; acting as primary alarm system
administrator for the Computing Support Center office and three
instructional labs, assigning user access codes and programming access
schedules.
Data General AOS/VS Systems Programming Responsibilities. 1/85 - 2/90
Responsible for the following on a Data General computer system:
designing, coding, and implementing original system software to
facilitate the management, use, and operation of the system. Some
examples of such systems include: usercode creation front-ends; user
name directories; security report generators; and user menus. Also wrote
software to facilitate the migration of data between this system and
other systems.
Data General AOS/VS System Management Responsibilities. 1/85 - 2/90
Responsible for the following on a Data General computer system:
operating system maintenance and generation, including the installation
of patches and other system software; maintaining a backup library;
conducting introductory training sessions in the use of the computer;
developing and maintaining standards relative to the use of software and
hardware; operating the system for hardware and software performance
measurement; analyzing software trouble reports submitted by users and
working with vendor support personnel to resolve them. Available to
assist users with errors in programming or use of system utilities.

Data Manager. 1/93 – 10/96 This is only a part-time position (8-10 hours
per week). All work is performed outside of my regular hours in the
Computing Support Center. Duties include: selection and installation of
office hardware and software; development of office-related databases in
dBASE IV and Oracle; assisting and training staff in use of various
office automation applications; operating our day care center's billing
system; general data management.

and implemented one of these presentations which involved creating
and collecting images, text, and sounds and incorporating them into
a presentation using MacroMind Director.
