Choosing an Internship Site: Points to consider

Many factors go into selecting your preferred internship hospital, including geography, cost, admission criteria, and reputation. Although your professors and advisor can be much help in this process, the decision is ultimately yours to make. To help you in making such a decision, here are some aspects to consider:

Tuition & Fees (subject to change):

Albany Medical College $ 6,300 + $ 208 in fees + books (~ $600)
Berkshire Medical Center $ 3,500 (incl. books)
Fletcher Allen Health Care $ 7,000 + books (~ $625)
Memorial Sloan Kettering Caner Center $ 8,000 (+ $310 in books, $50 application fee)

Application Deadline*

I strongly recommend that you apply as early as possible, even if the deadline is not until next year. many programs fill up earlier than the deadline. Applying in September or October is not too early!

Albany Medical College Rolling admission - interviews start Feb. 14
Berkshire Medical Center February 14
Fletcher Allen Health Care Rolling Admission - but no later than April 1
Memorial Sloan Kettering Caner Center Rolling Admission - no later than Dec.31

Albany Medical College 12 months, September 5 - August 15
Berkshire Medical Center 12 months, starting in September
Fletcher Allen Health Care 12 months, starting in September
Memorial Sloan Kettering Caner Center 12 months, starting in August

Financial Aid

Plattsburgh State students: Since you are still considered to be a Plattsburgh student during your internship, you may be eligible for continued financial aid. Contact Joanne Bean in the Financial Aid Office.

Albany Medical College: students can apply for aid through the Medical College

Housing/Room & Board

Albany Medical College: Student housing is available in the area (there are several other colleges nearby)
Fletcher Allen Health Care: Housing in Burlington is tight! If you need to live in VT, please look early.
Memorial Sloan Kettering can only recommend housing - the earlier you look the better your chances
