BIOGRAPHY        Dr. Karen Joy Agne      

   Dr. Karen Joy Agne is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at Plattsburgh State University of New York. Dr. Agne teaches graduate courses in Tests and Measurements, Behavioral Management in the Classroom and Gifted Education, as well as graduate elective classes in Acting for Teachers, Creative Problem Solving, and Spiritual Foundations of Education.

   Agne is Founder and Director of the Super Saturday School, an educational program for gifted children in three counties of upstate New York (see website www.plattsburgh.edu/centers/aage). She also directs and teaches the gifted program for a school district located in the Adirondack State Park.

    A veteran of the public school system, Karen Agne taught for eighteen years, at both elementary and secondary levels, before moving to higher education. She spent ten years directing and teaching gifted children. Agne was 1984 Illinois State Gifted Teacher of the Year.

    Agne was given the Distinguished Achievement Award for Most Learned Article from EdPress, the Association of Educational Publishers, for “The Dismantling of the Great American Public School” in 1999. Among her publications are:
