Exam Rewrites

BIO407 Optional Rewrite Option

1. Rewrites are due one week from the date exams are returned or as announced.

2. Do your own work.

3. You may rewrite any questions or questions you missed to a maximum of 20 points. Maximum points earned back can be +10, or one letter grade. There is no guarantee of points. I begin grading with the first answer you present, and will not grade more than 20 points. You may begin with any type of question; essay, multiple choice or short answer, but answer questions sequentially by type. You do not need to copy the question or your answer. Clearly indicate the question you are redoing.

Multiple Choice. You have to explain what the correct answer is, and explain the real meaning of the wrong answer you selected. (There may be some exceptions, for example, when all choices are variations of the same answer, then one explanation will suffice.) Give more than the minimum glossary response, and don't just repeat material in the question.

Short Answer/ Fill-in/Matching One word answers are not enough on the rewrite; you will need a few sentences to show you clearly understand what you missed. You need to do more than repeat the question.

Matching. You must do more than match the letter with the correct choice. You have to expand on your answer to show that you understand your mistake.

Essay. Focus on the portion of the question you missed, which I try to circle or highlight while grading. Correct errors and provide more detail.

4. Attach your exam to your answers.
