Grading

Your grade is earned based on points earned out of a total of 600 possible points. I use a standard A-E pecentages, with +/- designations at .7 and .3 (i.e. 87 is a B+, 82.9 is a B-).

Exams. There are four equally-weighted exams, worth 100 points each. Each exam has a mixed format of multiple choice, short answer, matching, and essay. Exams will be based on lecture material and reading assignments. You will have the option of earning back some points missed and demonstrating mastery of the material by doing an exam rewrite. There will be scheduled reviews before each exam. These are optional, but helpful. Practice exams will also be available on the web; these are usually copies of exams from the previous year.

Writing Assignments. There are four short writing assignments each worth 25 points. Two assignments require you to find and synthesize information on the internet, while the second two require you to evaluate a paper on a topic of interest in immunology.
