Actions
2 to 3 years prior to the scheduled visit The institution submits the intent to Apply for NCATE Accreditation form to visit NCATE. DONE
18 months prior to visit The institution submits one copy or its response to preconditions to NCATE. Four to five copies curriculum program reviews (folios), which respond to NCATE-approved guidelines as required for precondition #8 must be submitted unless the institution is located in a partnership state in which the submission of folios is optional. DONE, Educational Leadership approved
January 15, 2003 Receive input on program review rejoinders that were submitted. Partially completed as of 1/23/03, Math, Elementary education, Special Education approved waiting for information on others
April 1, 2003  Submit rejoinders for programs not yet approved. 
1 2 months prior to visit  The institution submits to NCATE the 'Date Preference Form' with the preferred dates for the on-site visit. FALL 2004 LAST WEEK OF SEPT
Semester prior to visit NCATE sends a final preconditions report to the institution. (If preconditions are not met, a visit cannot take place.) Pre conditions have been accepted 
October, 2003

6 months prior to visit - MARCH 2004 The institution publishes announcements of the upcoming visit in local news media to invite third-party testimony. 
Spring 2004 Mock Visit
4-6months prior to visit - MARCH OR MAY 2004 NCATE sends to the institution the names and addresses of the assigned BCE team members who will conduct the on-site review. 
2-3 months prior to visit  JUNE 2004 NCATE sends a copy of the third-party testimony to institution for comment.
60 days prior to the visit - JULY 2004 
The institution submits two copies of its institutional report and catalogs to NCATE. The report and catalogs are also sent to each BOE team member, the state consultant, and other state representatives. Writing of the institutional report has begun already 
30-60 days prior to the visit  JUNE OR JULY 2004 The previsit by the team chair is conducted.
FALL 2004 LAST WEEK OF SEPT
Scheduled visit NCATE Board of Examiners (BOE) team of five or six persons visits the campus. 
30 days after the visit  OCTOBER 2004 The BOE report is submitted to NCATE by the team chair. Two copies are forwarded to the unit head: copies are also sent to the state agency if the institution is located in a partnership state.
30 days after receipt of the BOE  NOVEMBER 2004
report
 The institution submits six (6) copies of its rejoinder to NCATE.
March\April or September/October  The institutions accreditation status is determined by NCATE's Unit Accreditation Board (UAB)
Within two weeks after the UAB  NCATE mails action letters and reports of the accreditation decision to the president meeting of the institution, the unit head, and the state agency if the institution is located in a partnership state.
1 month later Unless a decision is being appealed.  NCATE mails public disclosure notices to the state education agency, NEA and AFT stare affiliates, and state school board association.
