Please support your specific ideas by identifying the scholars whose writing and research have most influences your present thinking. Please note you do not have to agree with the scholars mentioned but you do need to cite sources that are the basis of your position.

Select two of the five Case studies (if you to select two that you believe to be classified with the same disability each in terms of their specific needs ). Based upon the case studies you have selected complete the following questions: 

1. Underline the specific aspects of the case study that led you to the decision that this child had a disability?

2. Justify this classification. (This will require you to provide a definition of the disability discussed. Please include criteria that will satisfy both federal and New York State definitions.) 

3. Describe educational program for the child described. Emphasize behavior management styles, curriculum, instructional materials and methodology that you would use. 

4. Develop an IEP, goals should be selected for each area of need, each goal should have three bench mark objectives. 

5. Discuss each of the possible placements/ratios (including resource and consultant teacher) and describe characteristics of learners in those settings. Justify or explain why you would or would not place the student you have described in each. Considerations may depend upon the nature and severity of specific characteristics of the student.

6. Develop an assessment protocol/battery for the students you have picked. Be sure to include your reasons for selecting the assessment battery and the specific types of information you must gather in order to determine disabling condition and educational objectives.

1. You are asked to make a decision regarding whether or not Debra should be eligible for special education. For this eligibility decision, you need to compare Debra's characteristics with the IDEA definitions of disabilities and find the category that her characteristics best fit into. Justify and explain your decision

2. a. Identify one (1) of Debra's educational needs. State the need in positive terms. For example, you need to state, "Debra needs to solve the math problems correctly" instead of "Debra should not miss any math problems."
b. Write an annual IEP goal to address the need you have identified in 2 a.
c. Write short-term objectives or benchmarks for the above IEP goal (2. b.).

3. Design a complete intervention (instructional) program to address Debra's need that you have identified in 2. a. Make use of all the information you have obtained from the university courses regarding effective practices (i.e., practices that work). Justify why you are recommending a particular practice for a particular purpose.

4. You are assigned as Debra's special education teacher. According to IDEA, you need to report Debra's progress periodically. For this purpose you may need to conduct formative evaluations of Debra's performance to determine the progress and trend of Debra's learning toward the annual goal and short-term objectives you wrote on Item 2 during the school year. Design a formative evaluation procedure for the goals and objectives. Explain the steps or materials specifically.

5. Design your summative (i.e., end of the semester or end of the year) evaluation for the need you identified on Item 2. Explain the steps or materials specifically.
