Plattsburgh State Speech and Hearing Center

Dress Code

The dress code policy is based upon what is reasonably expected of professionals in this area.  As representatives of our clinic, our college, and our profession, student clinicians should strive to give the best possible impression to the clients and community that we serve.  These guidelines should be followed whenever a student is in the clinic in a professional capacity (i.e., as an observer, a clinician, an assistant clinician, or a work-study student).

Overall appearance should be neat and clean.

General appearance should be modest and discreet.  Short skirts, halter tops, tight clothing, and anything revealing should be avoided.  Excessive jewelry, perfumes, and make-up should also be avoided.

Business like appearance should be maintained.  T-shirts, sweatpants, jogging suits, shorts, cut-offs, baseball caps, and jeans should be avoided.

Name tags should be worn.  Observers, assistant clinicians, and clinicians (both student and certified) must wear an identification tag when acting in a professional capacity within the clinic setting.
