Research Interests

I am an evolutionary biologist with broad interests in ecology and behavior.

My primary research project in recent years has focused on the effects of agricultural practices on grassland -breeding birds specifically the Bobolink and the Savannah Sparrow.  This research has been carried out in close collaboration with Dr.'s Allan Strong, Therese Donovan and Sidney Bosworth of the University of Vermont.

In addition, I also am active in developing individual-based simulation models that address ecological questions.  Currently, I am involved in two collaborative research projects.  In the first, I am working with  Dr. Graeme Ruxton of the University of Glasgow on a model that that explores questions dealing with optimal foraging strategies of seabirds.   In the second, I am collaborating with Dr. Etienne Danchin of CNRS Paris on a model that addresses the evolution of colonial breeding in seabirds.
