Required Text: List, Carla. Information Research. 2nd ed. Dubuque , IA : Kendall/Hunt, 2002.

A copy of the text is available on reserve under LIB101.

 

Attendance:  Attendance is mandatory and will count for 16% of your grade.  Attendance will be taken by roll call or by the recording of a grade for an in-class assignment completed before the end of class.  If you are unable to make a class, please contact me (before class if at all possible) to make arrangements to get your assignment for the following week.

 

In-class Assignments:  There will be an in-class assignment or quiz each week based on that week’s reading from the text.  Please read assigned chapters before coming to class.  It is not possible to make up a missed in-class assignment.         

 

Homework Assignments:  Homework assignments will be handed out in class and, unless otherwise specified, will be due in the LIB101 assignment box in the reference room by 2:30pm the Friday following each class.  If you are unable to submit your homework assignment by that time due to work, child care, or commuting (those are the only reasons), please contact me to make other arrangements.  Be sure to put your name and section on every paper you hand in for this course.

 

Final Project:  The final project will be due at the final exam on Monday, March 29th.  A description of the project will be handed out separately.

 

Final Exam:  The final exam will be held during the last class on March 29th.  Questions will be based primarily on the text readings. 

 

Grading:         Attendance/In-class assignments           16%

                        Homework Assignments                       24%

                        Final Project                                         30%    

                        Final Exam                                           30%

 

COMPLETION OF BOTH THE FINAL PROJECT AND FINAL EXAM ARE REQUIRED TO RECEIVE A PASSING GRADE.  Keep in mind that the assignments for this class build on the concepts learned in prior weeks.  Failure to complete assignments may affect your ability to successfully complete future assignments.      

 

THE LAST DAY TO WITHDRAW FROM THIS CLASS IS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2004 .

March 22        Review class.  Final project questions addressed.

 

March 29        Final Exam.  Final project due.
