The film "Love'sLabors" helps to support the environmentalist view of language/communication development because it showed parents teach their children how to communicate. When childrena are born, they look to their parents for everything, including communication. Children learn teh sounds and gestures of words and actions and attaach meaning to them. The deaf family showed there are diferent ways to communicate without using words. They communicated the same way as people who are able to speak as effectively in their own way with symbolic gestures. Children do not understand much of anything when they are young, including language an dcommunication. Whether or not they use words, there are many different ways people can communicate although they all may not be in the "normal" fashion. How about primitive individuals and persons who existed in medievil and even caveman/dinosaur times?
