I believe that we can not totally change our personalities if we go off on a spiritual odyssey but it might help us to change our perspectives. Christopher McCandless already knew what he wanted to do with his life and he felt strongly that his parents and society had totally opposite ideas of how he should live his life. By going on this odyssey he was doing what he wanted to do regardless of whether it brought him the peace of mind he wanted it to or not. Some people need to get away from the pressures and stresses of society and the only way for them to do this is to get away from everything they know. This would certainly have an impact on the way you think and feel about things after you went away on this journey. I think it would tend to change the way you think about things because they are probably things that you have never been able to think out before which would have some sort of impact on you.
