Thanks for your response. It's interesting that you construct your dreams both from your environment(for example,your arm falling asleep, as you point out)and what Freud terms "remnants" from your earlier social interactions and memories. From this perspective, it's perhaps accurate to conclude that, as Mead contends, you actually retain your self during sleep from the "outside in."
