My roles and responsibilities as your academic advisor are described in detail on the Academic Advising Office's web page. But in my own words: I am here to give you advice concerning: a) the courses you choose to take, b) the college's policies, and c) the college resources that will help you in your academic career. I will give you advice so that you can make responsible and informed decisions as you prepare for your future career.
More generally, I see myself as your ambassador to the college system. I will try to protect your interests during your passage through Plattsburgh, and I will seek out ways to make your time here as successful and as beneficial to you as you want. I am here to help you.
If you have questions, or you would like to chat, stop by my office (206a Beaumont Hall) during my office hours (see below). You can also call me (x3384) or send me email steve.mansfield@plattsburgh.edu. During the advising period you can sign-up for an advising appointment using the sign-in sheet on my office door (206a Beaumont Hall).
Advising for Spring 2008 course registration takes place from Monday October 15th through Friday October 26th. If you are one of my advisees then you need to meet with me during this time so that I can help you with course selection and give you your Banner code number to allow you to register for your classes. I will also happily answer your questions and give you advice to help you build a schedule that works for you.
During the week of the Columbus-Day Break I will place a sign-up sheet on my office door (Room 206a Beaumont Hall) where you can sign-up for an advising appointment. Please sign up at least one day in advance.
Prior to meeting with me you should consult your CAPP report and the master schedule and make a plan for the classes you intend to take.
Note: Registration for Winter Session courses starts at 7am on Sunday October 21st, 2007. If you have questions about winter session I suggest you make an advising appointment during the first week of advising.
