Students with questions concerning the Minor in Psychology should contact me for assistance. Stop by my office (206a Beaumont Hall) during my office hours (see below). You can also call me (x3384) or send me email steve.mansfield@plattsburgh.edu. During the advising period you can sign-up for an advising appointment using the sign-in sheet on my office door (206a Beaumont Hall).
Downlaad the Psychology Minor fact sheet (pdf).
You can declare a Psychology Minor by completing the bottom section of a "Declaration or Change of Major/Minor/Advisor" form (available from all department offices). You will need to know the curriculum code for the Psychology Minor: it is 2001 (or 2002 if you are taking the minor primarily at the ACC campus). You can leave the form in my mail box in the Psychology Department office (211 Beaumont Hall). I will sign it and send it to academic advising.
Total credits: 18–19
Note: Students must obtain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in all courses which fulfill the minor requirements. At least 9 hours of the minor must be completed in courses offered at, or through, Plattsburgh.
In 2003 the psychology department added four classes (PSY412 Educational psychology, PSY445 Counseling psychology, PSY460 Psychology of women, and PSY461 Evolutionary psychology) to the list of courses that meet the 3rd requirment (two 400-level courses).
If your CAPP report does not list those classes it is probably because you started your college career before these new requirements went into effect. If you wish to have one of the those classes meet the 3rd requirement for your minor please contact me. I will review your CAPP report and complete the necessary paperwork.
