BOOKS

All books owned by Feinberg Library are listed in its library catalog called PlattCat and are searchable by author, title, subject keyword, subject heading, and a variety of other methods.  The General Collection contains approximately 300,000 volumes and is spread across levels one, two, and three of Feinberg Library.  The collection is classified by the Library of Congress system.

For books NOT owned by Feinberg Library, search the WorldCat database listed on Feinberg Library's Home Page which includes books, video and sound recordings, manuscripts, government documents, and a variety of other material published since 1000 B.C..  It is the largest single bibliographic database in existence, containing over 57 million records.

Material listed on WorldCat may be requested through Interlibrary Loan at no charge.  When viewing a record on WorldCat for material not owned by Feinberg Library, click on the  "Request on InterLibrary Loan" link under the External Resources section and follow the instructions provided there to submit an Interlibrary Loan request online through the ILLIAD system..  

There is a growing market for electronic books, or e-books.  Feinberg Library currently subscribes to NetLibrary that contains a collection of thousands of copyrighted e-books and 4,000 public domain ebooks.  The NetLibrary database may be searched much like any electronic database and books may be browsed or borrowed.  For more detailed information visit the NetLibrary web site.
