Welcome to my web pages!

I am a professor in the Psychology Department at Plattsburgh State University in Plattsburgh, NY. I obtained my B.A. in Psychology from Hope College, with a minor in Math. Then I earned my Ph.D. in Cognitive and Biological Psychology, with a minor in Neuroscience, working in the Vision Research Labs at the University of Minnesota. I taught at St. Cloud State University for two years, and finally came to Plattsburgh in the fall of 1999.

My scholarly interests are in the areas of perception and cognition. I teach a wide variety of courses—you can learn more on my teaching pages. My research investigates visual perception, including object recognition, face perception, and perception of surface material properties. Look at my research pages to find out about these projects. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband Steve, our 2 kids, and our 2 dogs Albyn and Islay. I also like to do lots of other stuff—have a look at my Photos and Fun pages!
